August Beauty

I’ve not written a beauty post before however I did write a little article for my uni newspaper about some of my favourite beauty products. This summer I’ve found a few new favourites.

The first is the Lush Brazened Honey Face Mask, which myself a couple of friends were talked into buying by an enthusiastic sales girl who explained the benefits of all the fresh ingredients. The mask has a very distinctive smell and the texture is granular. Once smoothed onto the skin you leave for about 10 minutes as the mask hardens onto your face and it becomes difficult to change your facial expression. Once washed off, my skin felt soft and smooth however as it is full of fresh ingredients there is a use by date on the pot, so I’m not sure what happens after it goes out of date but overall I really enjoyed using this!

My favourite aftersun, Garnier Aftersun Soothing hydrating lotion. It has such an amazing smell and it rubs into your skin really easily. I would definitely recommend this for holidays or for after the hot english sunshine we’ve had a bit of this summer.
I’ve read a lot of good stuff about Bioderma Micelle Solution and it’s benefits in comparison to other cleansers and make-up removers, however the higher price tag makes me a little anxious to order it online incase I don’t like it. However I found this new L’oreal product, Skin Perfection, 3 in 1 Purifying Miceller Solution, which is more reasonably priced at £4.99 in Boots. It takes my make-up off really well and doesn’t leave my eyes sore like some removers have done in the past. I would definitely recommend it as it left my face clean and cleansed.
As I’m moving to London to smarten up and become a “young professional” in September, this summer I’ve experimented with Crazy Colour, dip-dyeing my hair pink whilst I can still get away with it haha. I’ve been using ‘Pinkissimo’ on the ends of my blonde. I’ve gotten the best results, i.e. lasting, bright colour, by following the instructions closely. Leaving on wet/dry hair for about 30 minutes and then rinsing and conditioning. As my hair is currently very blonde it takes pretty well, however I’ve seen similar pinks on friends with brown hair too!
Finally my favourite summer nail varnish is this one, Celeste from Topshop. It isn’t available anymore however Barry M do a really similar shade called Blueberry which my sister bought recently and looks basically the same. There’s a photo on my instagram of the shade actually painted on my nails, it’s fresh and summery – perfect!
I love reading about other people’s favourite products and I find it so helpful when picking new things as you can’t trust advertising these days haha! That’s what a 4 year marketing degree has taught me anyway, anyone got any good recommendations?
