Jersey Boys, The Movie
Jersey Boys isn’t a stage show I’ve ever heard much about, however I was keen to see the movie version when Grace asked. An exciting, humorous and entertaining combination which tells the story of the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. From their roots in New Jersey, getting into trouble and cutting hair to the bright lights, fame and fortune that came with their famous songs “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Walk Like a Man”.
With Frankie Valli as the lead singer, Bob Gaudio on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, and Nick Massi on bass guitar and bass vocals, the Four Seasons first came to fame in the 1960’s, after attempting to sign a record deal for many years. The film documents their highs and lows , showing Frankie’s relationship with his wife fall apart and Tommy’s problem with money. They are one of the best-selling musical groups of all time, having sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide. I enjoyed the film, despite it not being a traditional musical, as the only musical elements were the band performing on stage or in one scene, singing the opening lines to Sherry down the phone.
There is a an great review on the film on Buzzfeed. and you can watch the trailer below!
