The Alchemist, Manchester | Review

Last week I turned 22 years old (emphasis on old there). To celebrate a few of my friends from Uni met me in Manchester for lunch and cocktails! We headed to New York Street where we had a table booked at The Alchemist,a classy looking restaurant a bar boasting an outdoor terrace area for those rare sunny days in Manchester, a mouth-watering food menu and a fabulous selection of cocktails.

I delved into a plate of fajitas, succulent chicken with enough sauces, cheese and lettuce to suffice four flavour packed wraps. My friends enjoyed vegetable stir fry and scampi and chips which arrived in a posh version of a school dinner tray, separated out in compartments, but much more appetising.

This was the amazing colour changing cocktail! A combination of Russian Standard Vodka, apple liqueur, cherry flavour drops, sugar syrup and a secret ingredient make up the blue mixture. Mix this with the clear one, apple juice, citric acid and soda. Poured onto a ball of ice for this amazing smokey, colour changing drink…

You can visit The Alchemist on New York Street, or in Spinningfields on Hardman Street. In true birthday celebration style I tested out the Spiningfields branch later that weekend and it was just as fabulous. We all had Cajun chicken Fajitas, followed by cocktails, one of which came in a huge antique tea pot! They have recently opened another branch in Trinity, Leeds.

A great atmosphere, friendly staff and fabulous food and drink, definitely worth a try for lunch with friends or family! If you love a good menu stalk, because lets face it, who doesn’t like thinking about food? Take a look here!
