Freezing at Freeze Festival

This week just gone, Clapham Common hosted Freeze festival, a wintery spectacle of music and skiing related shopping and activities. Lauren’s friend Ciara had been staying at our house for the week while she worked there and in return had gotten us free tickets for the Saturday!

We arrived at the Freeze Piste and were welcomed by music and crowds of cosily dressed people in hats, scarves and ski wear. Anyone who knows me well will know I can’t ski as I have bad knees but Lauren assured me that the metro bar there was similar to the après-ski style bars she would go to when away skiing.
In the Ibiza Rocks the Snow tent we saw Toddla T and Nicola Bear hitting the decks. I saw Nicola Bear over the summer at Ibiza rocks and Lauren knows her from when she’s stayed in Ibiza too. She was playing some great tunes and everyone was having a right laugh dancing.
The atmosphere at the festival was really chilled in comparison to those similar that run during the summer. Everyone respected each other’s hats and didn’t steal them and there was no pushing etc in the tents. I’d say it was more similar to a Christmas market/winter wonderland type event, which was perfect for a November afternoon.
During the evening we saw a bit of Aluna George in the large main tent and also Zane Lowe, who did a secret set in the Relentness tent. Everyone was raving in there, so much fun. Plus we got to pull some stupid faces in the taxi photo booth!

There was a fab choice of food stalls, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, hog roasts and more. Another dancing stint in the Ibiza rocks tent before we finished the evening with Madeon in the main stage, where everyone was loving life. It was like a much chillier version of an Ibiza night!

Despite the fact I never have and never will ski, I had a fantastic afternoon/evening experiencing clapham common’s piste and après-ski party!
