On Thursday Lauren, Grace and I headed to King’s Cross, to the Water Rats where we planned to see Leon Else, a new up and coming music act, dubbed to be the next ‘The Weeknd’. The pub hosts acts regularly, a venue synonymous with cutting edge new music. Bob Dylan, Katy Perry and Oasis have all performed there! We entered the pub like environment feeling a little out of place as everyone was dressed pretty chilled, and we were totally corporate and smart. We took our bottle of house white and headed through the double doors to the small stage area at the back.
The support act was Bobby Whirlwind, a singer who normally performs alone however had a band with him on the night for the first time, he told me when I met Bobby outside of the pub. His songs are available on SoundCloud – https://soundcloud.com/bobbywhirlwind
Leon Else played at around 8.30pm, and opened with his single “Protocol”
a chilled RnB, soulful sound, reflected in all the songs he performed. He’s been played on Radio One and was “Track of the week” on BBC Introducing. He had some really good songs, and told us after the show that he was keen to get a really good following to help his success in the next few months. He seemed down to earth, and it would be great to see him seeing success soon – get listening!
