Bad tans lines and beach huts

Time has been flying at the moment, I’ve just noticed it’s over a month since my last post and I’ve been so busy! I have to admit, during the winter months I am a fan of layers, jumpers, hats and scarves however there is no better feeling than donning colourful tops, shorts and sandals and heading out to soak up the sun. Or in my case, popping on your sports gear as I have recently and heading out for a 10km race and the Corporate Games competition!

First things first this month I headed to Wildlife festival with a few of the girls from work for a boogey at Brighton airport. We spent the Saturday in the blustery winds on the front at Brighton and Hove, with the classic seaside meal of fish and chips accompanied by some prosecco, and followed by a snooze in sunshine. Gorgeous weather over the two days and Disclosure headlining the Sunday was fantastic!

A couple of weeks later it was the women’s Nike 10km at Victoria Park. Having taken part in the training run earlier last month [see last blog post] it was fantastic to get together with 10,000 women to race against the clock around the park. I just missed beating my PB by only 3 seconds, frustrating but hey at least I’m consistent. I’m now training for a half marathon in September, so check back for my progress and tips that I’ll be learning along the way!

After a 4hour drive to Stoke, which apparently is a lot further north than I had originally thought, Lee and I arrived at Keele University; this years location for the UK Corporate Games during the last weekend of June. The whole weekend was like stepping back in time two years back to university sports, drinking and of course fancy dress! Such a fun weekend, despite our IBM kit not turning up, which resulted in the netball girls all in mismatched sports gear. It wasn’t until the following Tuesday I noticed that I had caught the sun so much at the bottom of my legs that I have STRAIGHT tan lines just below my knee, gutted! Here are some team highlights from the weekend:

We nearly won the fancy dress competition.. lost out to the Statue of Liberty!
The plan is to write some more posts this week, so watch out for some social media content, Wimbledon photos and a restaurant review coming soon!
