Singing hot dogs, sky scrapers and 25,000 steps | NYC Day 1

After being up for, hmmm I’m going to say around 20 hours following our flight and late night thai meal, we awoke Saturday excited and ready to hit the city! The subway took us straight to Times Square where boosted our caffeine levels, met some famous characters and started to explored the city…

Our next stop was the Empire State Building. We took a ride on a random attraction called Sky Ride during which we were shaken about in our seats whilst Kevin Bacon took us on a virtual tour of the city from the sky. Made me feel a littttle sick, but was in general pretttty fun!

We headed to the 86th floor to take in the gorgeous views – need I say no more:

Next stop, a little lunch? We headed back towards Times Square, up Broadway to Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Sounds snazzy huh? Sure is, this is where all the waiting staff can sing and they just serve your food and sing tunes too! We got burgers and hot dogs and enjoyed the music. I even got the MC to get the restaurant to say Happy Birthday to Lee hahah.
Next we walked and walked and walked (25,000 steps) – literally saw such amazing buildings everywhere. 25,000 steps later and we’d hit a lot of the major sky scrapers, Rockefeller, Chrysler Building, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Gardens and Grand Central Terminal.
We then took to the High Line to enjoy the views across the city and walk right through where this railway would have ran in NY.
For dinner we sourced a delicious Mexican meal just at the top of Central Park – exhausted and ready for day two!
