Had an interesting week again at work learning about my new role still. There’s loads of areas to get my head around including lots of Google related things! We had an interesting lunch meeting with our Google account manager during which he explained programmatic marketing – a pretty complicated mix of data use, data collection and audience targeting. On Thursday, we (the team and I) attended the Huddle – the annual event ran by our media agency Mindshare. Some really interesting talks all around the theme “doing good”. The highlight was Reggie Yates talking about his documentaries and how they’ve grown with him over the past 6 years – what a babe!
With the introduction of “Tinder Social”, which I have recently noticed having been reunited with the app of recent, the company is trying to enable users to make it easier to make that “real life” connection with app matches – see what Sean Rad, Tinder’s Founder and CEO has to say about it too (p.s. he’s only 30!!).
At the event last week one of the sessions I attended was all about whether or not YouTubers are super or superficial – there was some interesting opinions on the matter, one of which the incredible influence YouTubers have – the use of “person-to-person” media is crucial for brands these days as it’s the most trusted form of advertising brands can get involved in.
Artificial intelligence (AI) was a hot topic (as usual these days) at this year’s Web Summit event in Portugal. See the rest of the themes covered and some of Facebook’s plans to move forward in tech over the next 10 years.
That’s all for this week… hopefully there’ll be more next!
